Extreme Kayak World Championships 2021

OETZ TROPHY becomes the 2021 World Championship!

The Extreme Kayak World Championships should have taken place at the Ekstremsportveko in Voss this year. However, entry to Norway is still very restricted for international athletes. So in order to not disadvantage any athletes and to ensure the presence of as many nations as possible, AWP has decided to move the World Championships to Ötztal.

The OETZ TROPHY 2021 will become the venue of the Extreme Kayak World Championships 2021!

As the slots for men were already fully booked before we knew that this race would be the official World Championships, we have now decided to open the registration again and provide 50 additional slots for men.

We want to give top athletes the chance to participate in the World Championships and also to give athletes from as many different nations as possible the chance to take part. Therefore, the additional starting places will be allocated according to the following criteria:

  • Origin from nations with less than 3 athletes already registered.
  • Place in the official AWP ranking list .
  • Outstanding performance in international whitewater races in the last 3 years.
  • For athletes with equal qualifications, the order of registration will be taken into account.

Registration will be open from Saturday, July 3, 9am CEST until Sunday, July 18, 9pm CEST. Once these sign-ups have been evaluated, we will notify the athletes with the correct eligibility to confirm their registration.

Since the women’s slots are not yet filled, registration will simply continue here – first come, first serve.

IMPORTANT: The current waiting list will not be considered for this registration process. Athletes on the waiting list who meet the above requirements must re-register. However, the waiting list is still valid for free remaining places as well as for cancellations of already registered athletes.
